The Cat House Blog: Tech Adventures with Cats

Who am I?

My name is Ava! I have been a computer nerd ever since I can remember. As a kid I spent a ton of time tinkering with our family’s old windows 95 computer. I personally think it’s thanks to my grandpa (one of the original computer nerds) for fostering my love of tech. Outside of tech, my spouse and I are both massively into camping and hiking! We are also both big animal lovers. We have two cats, a pup, a tarantula, and a Spotted Leopard Gecko.

What specifically am I going to be blogging about?

The main focus of this blog is to document my journey to becoming an IT engineer and beyond. Though, in complete honesty, I mostly want a place I can gush about how cool computers are! The majority of posts will focus on my learning how to run a Linux server and the technologies that are associated with that (i.e. Docker, Kubernetes, etc.). I will also likely be posting some stuff about 3D printing and the ocassional pet pic.

Why is this blog called “The Cat House” if it’s about computers?

The name started after one of our cats, Small Man (yes, that is his government name.) started taking cozy little naps on top of our 3D printer. I jokingly called the 3-D printer his cat house. After I said it I realized it was a pretty cool name!
